A list of Common Pests

Bird Control

People are especially vulnerable to the risk of an unhygienic environment created by the presence of birds. Birds can cause structural damage by nesting in buildings, causing gradual destruction. They also affect the aesthetic appeal of the building by shedding feathers, droppings, and pieces of broken nests.

Rodent Treatment

It is estimated that rodents destroy or contaminate at least 20 percent of the world’s food supply. Rodents are also known carriers of many diseases harmful to humans. Bidvest Steiner will protect your facility from rodent infestation by providing a preventative monitoring and baiting programme, consisting of various non-toxic baits supplemented by a carefully managed baiting programme.

Snake Treatment

Bidvest Steiner use professional snake handlers to remove and relocate snakes back in to the wild as it is not our policy to eliminate snakes.

If a live snake is seen, great care must be taken due to the severe dangers involved in handling snakes.

Bed Bug Treatment

The bed bug is commonly associated with sleeping humans, which is where it gets its name from. Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) remain hidden during the day, preferring cracks and crevices, and will come out at night to feed.

Cockroach Treatment

Signs of a cockroach infestation
– Living or dead insects
– Little pellets of secretions and droppings 1-2mm wide irregular length.
– Sign of regurgitation (vomiting). A cluster of small black spots in an area

Flea Treatment

Fleas (Siphonaptera) are normally found on pets and domestic animals but may be found amongst humans where there are poor hygiene conditions.

Fly Treatment

Flies pose a significant health threat in food processing and manufacturing facilities, because of their mobility and filthy nature. As a result, there is a growing demand for more innovative solutions to combat flying insect pests.

Mosquito Treatment

Mosquitoes will appear during the rainy seasons, or during heavy rainfall, even in non-tropical climates. A female mosquito is responsible for the bites to humans, as they are attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale.

Silver Fish Treatment

Also known as Fishmoths these insects with their shape tapering from the head to the rear and generally covered with scales in a fishlike manner is how they got the name. They also have an identifiable 3 long bristle type appendages as the end of their bodies.

Termite Treatment

Termites can be divided into two groups i.e. subterranean termites and drywood termites. The harvester termite nest is subterranean, meaning they operate underground, and can only be found by the evidence of soil dumps which are deposited by the workers.
